Purpose and Activities

The purpose of the foundation is to donate land in the Crestone/Baca area of CO, to representatives of world religions, mystical and traditional, particularly those with unbroken lineages, for the establishment of centers that 1) perpetuate the ancient tradition of peoples of many tribes journeying here for a sacred connection to earth, and deepening of their spirituality, 2) provide retreat centers for people of various faiths for this purpose, and 3) provide teachings and resources for the preservation and practice of the world's great wisdom traditions. The foundation also gives for the donation of land for the establishment of centers in the same geographic area, to offer educational programs and projects for children, youth, and adults that facilitate earth stewardship activities of restoration, conservation and appropriate building and agricultural technologies. The foundation also administers a land preservation program which includes setting aside the majority of land (900 of 1,400 acres) held by the Manitou Fdn., in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to preserve their pristine quality and protect the natural plant and wildlife ecosystems, as well as for the identification and protection of the abundant historical, archeological and sacred sites on Manitou Fdn., and grantee land
