Purpose and Activities

The foundation is focused on four primary programs: 1) the question of lifestyles and socio-economic organization in a post-consumerist perspective (transition towards sustainable societies); 2) the issue of regional cooperation in a multipolar world and that of legitimate governance, necessary to gain the support of the people (legitimate governance and regional cooperation); 3) the issue of responsibility of the players' view at an angle above all socio-professional (responsibility and ethics); and 4) the question of the means of dissemination and structuring information for a change in society (Methods and tools for information and the dissemination of ideas).


Established in 1982 - The Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for Human Progress (formerly Fondation pour le Progrès de l’Homme) is an independent foundation under Swiss law. It was established in 1982 by Charles Léopold Mayer’s executor, Madeleine Calame, from the estate bequeathed by him. The supervisory authority is the Swiss Canton of Vaud.
