Established in 1968 in NY - Founded by Eugene M. Lang, Chairman Emeritus of REFAC Technology Development Corp., through which he has developed more than 100 companies in nearly four dozen countries. In June 1981, Mr. Lang began the "I Have a Dream" program (IHAD) during his commencement speech to the 62 graduating six-graders of P.S. 121 in East Harlem, his alma mater. He promised each student tuition support if they were to attend any local, public, state, or city institution of higher education, including vocational schools. As of December 1997, 54 of the students from the class of 1981 had high school diplomas or GED certificates, and 39 had entered both 4-year and community colleges. As of June 1996, the IHAD program had been extended to 162 projects in 61 cities and included over 15,000 children. In addition to tuition support, the IHAD program provides children with on-going educational support and related intervention during their K-12 years
