Colin Higgins Youth Courage Awards is an individual grants program for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit, Queer and Questioning youth activists (through age 21) who have bravely stood up to hostility and intolerance based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity and triumphed over bigotry through working for LGBTQ rights and social justice. The Foundation places emphasis on supporting individuals from the following communities: geographically underserved communities, such as rural and reservation communities; communities of color, transgender communities, immigrant communities, and low-income communities.
Established in 1986 in CA - Founded by the late Colin Higgins, a screenwriter, director and producer. Mr. Higgins is best known for his screenplay of "Harold and Maude," and for his writing and directing of the films "Foul Play" and "Nine to Five."
