Purpose and Activities

The foundation invests the money, time and energy of the people of Bucharest to develop communities which feel like home. The foundation supports, with its resources and acknowledgement of informal leaders and their communities, so they may produce positive social changes in the city, so their actions inspire the involvement others, grow impact and build a community of support relevant for Bucharest.


Established in 2011; In 2010, a group of ten young people met to create a space for people and businesses in Bucharest to get together in the local community. They proposed to gather 300 donor-founders and gathered 301. In 2011, the foundation was legally established, and the mission with which the team started was to invest time and resources to create a community in which people of Bucharest feel like home. The first year was about the Auerbach Fund, in which a newly married couple wanted to donate the wedding gift to the foundation; about YouthBank, a program that provides young people with a framework to work and make decisions about their community, or about funds that support young people and children in education or health. The year 2012 brought to Bucharest the Mega Image for the Community Fund and the first edition of Swimathon Bucharest - the first fundraising event by swimming through which the foundation supported 20 small and large organizations to raise money from 550 donors. In 2018, the foundation managed to raise funds from companies and individual donors to finance over 320 projects and scholarships in Bucharest and Ilfov. The amount they invested together in the city is 1 million EUROS (RON 4.69 million).
