Purpose and Activities

The foundation is committed to improving the quality of life of children, adolescents, and adults with mental illness by improving the quality, scope, and delivery of mental health services. The foundation uses its resources through research to develop, evaluate, and implement best practice treatment programs delivered in the community.


Established in 1976 in MI as a public foundation; reclassified in 2005 as an independent foundation. Following the founder's passing in 2007, the foundation's assets were increased significantly - The foundation was established in 1976 by Peggy Flinn and James H. Flinn, Jr., in remembrance of their parents, and to provide a means for family philanthropy.
