The foundation provides an annual award to one or more persons working in the field of musical theater as composers and/or lyricists. Funding also for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Established in 2005 in NY - Founded by the late Fred Ebb, who was a musical theater lyricist and part of the Kander/Ebb composition team that created numerous award-winning musicals. Kander and Ebb won eight Tony Awards for "Cabaret" and the film version won numerous Academy Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score. Kander and Ebb's "Woman of the Year" won a Tony Award for Best Score. Other Kander and Ebb shows include "The Rink," "Flora the Red Menace," "Kiss of the Spiderwoman" and "Chicago."
