Purpose and Activities

Giving to provide resettlement assistance to Jewish immigrants in the U.S. and Israel; also awards grants for agricultural assistance.


Incorporated in 1891 in NY - Founded by the late Baron Maurice de Hirsch, a nineteenth century nobleman, banker, and philanthropist known for his dedication to Jewish causes. He founded the Jewish Colonization Association to assist persecuted Jews to establish themselves in agricultural colonies outside Russia. In 1881, he also founded a benevolent trust in the United States for the benefit of Jewish immigrants.
