Purpose and Activities

The foundation is dedicated to improving the health and welfare of the community it serves, and addresses the problems of pet overpopulation and homeless pets.


Established in 1977 in CA; became independent from the Doris Day Animal League in 2007 when the league merged with The Humane Society of the United States - Founded by Doris Day, a singer and actress whose films include "Pillow Talk" (for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress), "Lover Come Back," and "Send Me No Flowers." From 1968 to 1973, she also starred in the television series "The Doris Day Show." As of January 2014, Day is the oldest living artist to score a UK Top 10 with an album featuring new material.
