Purpose and Activities

The foundation seeks to explore and communicate the lessons of hope intertwined with the Holocaust's lessons of despair; the foundation also administers the Chambon Institute and the Varian Fry Institute.


Established in 1982 in CA as Friends of Le Chambon - Founded by documentary filmmaker Pierre Sauvage. Mr. Sauvage is an Emmy-winning documentarian whose films include "Yiddish: The Mame-Loshn" (1979), "Weapons of the Spirit" (1989), and "Not Idly By: Peter Bergson, America and the Holocaust" (2009)
