Giving for elementary, higher, and secondary education, including libraries and buildings, and equipment; health and hospitals; community funds; care for the aged; community development; historic preservation; and church support.


Incorporated in 1943 in GA - The foundation was incorporated as the Callaway Community Foundation and assumed its current name in 1962. The Textile Benefit Association was a charitable organization formed in 1919 by merchant and textile manufacturer Fuller E. Callaway, Sr. which dissolved in 1944 after transferring its assets to the Callaway Community Foundation. The foundation is the largest of those associated with the Callaway family. The other foundation is the Fuller E. Callaway Foundation, a local general-purpose foundation whose donors are the late Fuller E. Callaway, Sr. and family. Since its inception, the foundation has made contributions totaling more than $236 million including authorized but unpaid funds amounting to approximately $18 million The foundation is governed, managed, and operated by a self-perpetuating board of trustees who are elected to staggered terms not to exceed five years. The general manager of the foundation acts as liaison officer between the board and the public, investigating all requests for financial aid and submitting all facts to the board for decision
