Purpose and Activities

The foundation's mission is to raise and receive funds from individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations who want to help support Calaveras County charitable causes, and disburse those funds to worthy charitable organizations, helping the residents of Calaveras County.

Established in 2001 in CA - In 1999, two long time West Point residents conceived of the idea to create a community foundation for Calaveras County. An informal committee of local residents was created to help guide the creation of the foundation, and Sonora Area Foundation staff provided facilitation experience. On January 13, 2000, bylaws were adopted, and April 2000 the first Board of Directors meeting was held. In April 2001, the foundation was officially recognized as a public benefit, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, and in 2005 the IRS confirmed the Foundation's 501(c)(3) status.
