Purpose and Activities

The Boys & Girls Clubs promote the social welfare of boys and girls in various states; and provide guidance and promotes the health, social, educational, vocational, character, and cultural development of boys in girls in various states without regard to race, color, creed, or national origin.

Established in 2002 in GA - Boys & Girls Clubs of America had its beginnings in 1860 with three women in Hartford, Conn.: Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin and Elizabeth Hammersley. Believing that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative, they organized the first Club. A cause was born. In 1931, the Boys Club Federation was renamed the Boys Club of America and was then amended again in 1990 to reflect the inclusion of girls.
