Purpose and Activities

Support largely for poor and disconnected youth; K-12 education, with preference for school reform projects, charter schools, and school choice programs rather than nonprofits that provide direct services in public schools; arts and cultural programs in New York City and northern New Jersey; medical research. Other interests include voluntarism, entrepreneurship, strengthening the two-parent family, fatherhood (and father absence), promoting the institution of marriage, job training and placement, faith-based programs, prevention and early intervention, and measurable participant outcomes and program results, parent involvement, consumer choice, and innovation and cost-saving approaches .In 2015, The Achelis Foundation and The Bodman Foundation merged to become The Achelis and Bodman Foundation.
