Purpose and Activities

The organization is dedicated to the advancement of patient care in orthopedic, craniomaxillofacial, spine, and veterinary surgery. Its mission is to improve the care of patients with musculo-skeletal injuries and their sequelae in North America, through education and research in the principles, practice and results of treatment. Recipients chosen on the basis of their knowledge of orthopedic medicine for their research ability. Support given to trauma research projects, training in the management and care of teachers, and to visiting professors in the teaching of orthopedic, maxillofacial, spine or veterinary trauma treatment. The organization has also established The Kathryn Cramer Memorial Fellowship to foster medical students, young orthopedic residents, orthopedic trauma fellows, and junior orthopedic trauma faculty who are interested in educational and research endeavors in orthopedics (preferably orthopedic trauma).
