Scholarship awards for historically black colleges and universities.


Established in 2003 in NC - Founded by the late Maya Angelou, a poet and author. She is best known for her series of autobiographies which focus on her childhood and early adulthood experiences. The first autobiography "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," was nominated for a National Book Award. Ms. Angelou received a Pulitzer Prize nomination for her volume of poetry, as well as she won three Grammy awards for her spoken word albums. In 2000, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Arts, and in 2008, she was awarded the Lincoln Medal.
