Mission and Objectives Newmexicowomen.Org (NMW.O) works to advance opportunities for women and girls statewide so they can lead healthy, self-sufficient, and empowered lives. NMW.O works to fulfill our mission via a three-pronged strategy to educate, lead, and invest. We educate through research, communications, and educational trainings seeking to bring public and policy attention to gender justice issues. We lead by listening to communities, and then facilitating alliances and convenings among non-profits, funders, and communities to foster collaboration and build capacity. Finally, we increase philanthropic investments in programs serving women and girls of color and those in rural, low income communities statewide through donor education and strategic grantmaking. Strategic Focus The current focus of our work is gender justice and healing. Gender justice encompasses various social, environmental, racial, and economic justice issues with an underlying commitment to end patriarchy. It compels our feminism to be intersectional and more inclusive of the lived experiences of gender, race, class, immigration, ability, and beyond. A gender justice analysis also acknowledges that men and gender non-conforming individuals are constrained by patriarchal gender roles and norms. Healing, defined as the process of restoring health from an unbalanced or unhealthy state, has been prioritized as communities statewide emphasized it as both a powerful restorative process and outcome unto itself.
