Purpose and Activities

The Department was organized in 1942 and incorporated in 1992. The mission of this organization is to prepare for and respond to emergencies protecting people, property, and the environment through a progressive and responsible approach to planning, education, and hazard prevention with a professionally trained, dedicated, and compassionate workforce of career and volunteer members within the boundaries of Harris County Emergency Services District #25. The Department is under contract by Harris County Emergency Services District #25 ("eSD"), who provides funding for for the Departments operating and capital expenditures. Funding is provided pursuant to an approved annual budget of operating and capital expenditures and monthly reports of amounts advanced by the ESD and amounts actually paid by the Department, and related requests for reimbursement. The Department also receives revenue from amounts billed for responses to fire alarms and non-medical emergency services provided.
