Home Screen
After logging in to Foundation Directory Online, the Home Screen appears. The Home Screen provides access to the Search Grantmakers Screen and Search Grants Screen and the Search Companies Screen, Search 990s Screen, and Power Search tool for Professional subscribers. It also provides links to the Account area of our site, where you can upgrade your subscription; Update Central, where Professional subscribers can view summaries of recent additions and updates to our grantmaker database and build customized reports for more detail; Eye on FDO, the official blog of Foundation Directory Online; FDO Talk, the subscribers' message board; and FDO News, the Foundation Directory Online newsletter.
The Home Screen also provides headlines and RFPs from the Foundation Center's Philanthropy News Digest, information on upcoming FDO training classes, access to archived FDO webinars, and links to other FDO tools and Foundation Center resources.
Professional subscribers have access to FDO's Power Search tool. The Power Search tool is used to search across all four Foundation Directory Online databases—Grantmakers, Companies, Grants, and 990s—and the Foundation Center's philanthropy news, nonprofit jobs, RFPs, foundation publications, and nonprofit literature databases simultaneously.
The Power Search tool consists of a search field providing keyword (or text) searching capability. Simply type a word or phrase into the Power Search field to search for records containing that word or words. To search for an exact phrase, simply enclose the phrase in quotation marks.
