Phrase Searching

Using a literal string of words as a search term, a Phrase Search narrows results more than any other individual method. When conducting a Text Search of The Foundation Directory Online, the search engine automatically searches your term as a literal phrase. Typing Giving Limited to CA, for example, will retrieve only records containing that exact phrase. To broaden a search of this type, you could add a Boolean Operator between search terms. For example, searching for Giving AND Limited AND CA will retrieve more records, because the AND operator tells the search engine to retrieve records containing all of the words in any order. See Boolean Searching for more information.

Note: Phrase Searching is only available by entering search terms into the Text Search field.
