The Search Results Screen

Once The Foundation Directory Online finds all the records that match your search criteria, it displays a list of those records on the Search Results Screen. The way the results are displayed depends on sort options you select with the Sort Control on the Search Screen. The default sort order is Alphabetic and Ascending, which displays results by Foundation Name from A to Z. For more information on sorting results, see The Sort Control.

Navigating Results

The Search Results Screen has several components:

The Status Line. Located at the top of the screen, the Status Line displays the total number of records retrieved, and the number of records displayed on screen.
The Criteria Line. Displays the terms you have used to perform your search. If you choose to print your results page, the criteria will be included so you can easily refer back to them and duplicate the search.
The Results List. Displays the list of foundation records retrieved by your search. The Results List also includes the City and State in which each foundation is located as well as each foundation's Total Giving amounts for the year of record. Up to 50 results are displayed on each search results screen.
The Navigation Line. Located at the bottom of the screen, the Navigation Line lists the number of screens available with results. Clicking a page number takes you to that page of results. Clicking Next takes you to the next page with results. Clicking Previous takes you to the previous page with results.
The New Search link. Clicking New Search to the left of the Search Results Screen takes you back to the Search Screen where all search fields are reset and ready to accept new search criteria.

Tip: If your results are too broad or too narrow and you wish to revise your search without having to re-enter all your search criteria, click your browser's Back Button. The Search Screen re-appears with your previous search criteria.

Accessing Records

Find the foundation record you wish to open. If there is more than one Results Screen indicated by the Navigation Line, open the appropriate one by clicking on its page number.
Click on the Foundation Name to open the record in the Record Display screen.
Use the Previous and Next arrows to navigate up and back through the results list.
